Visit to Golconda or Golkonda Fort

We visited Golconda fort recently. HadΒ  pretty good time over there. It was long due weekend trip.

Map of Golconda (I prefer this spelling). Walking all over the place will help you shed at least 500 cals.P8280010

Old castles and forts have an innate feeling of loss and sadness in them. Outside the fort, in the garden, it was very pleasant for a change. Thanks to AP tourism. I love the above shot.

The Royal Palace… It was full of bat shit.:( Could not even breathe properly inside the so called Royal Palace. :). I really like the Rani Mahal, where the walls tell you secrets. You can listen to what’s being said in the other corner of the mahal through the diagonally opposite corner stone. A spying mechanism by a doubtful king to spy his wife (s).

On our way back, we saw a squirrel. Cute one. I was trying telepathy on him. I was telling him β€˜I will not hurt you, please come near me’ all the time. Crazy.. i know. But he did come close to me. πŸ™‚

The 24 cut in one of the towers. It will echo your clap 24 times i guess, and it will be heard till the top mahal. In case an enemy attacks the fort, the king can easily escape through this warning mechanism.

Don’t get deceived by the name of Robert Ludlum. It is not a Jason Bourne or covert-one adventure.Β  Its a just another bland novel, which you can afford to skip anytime. No action, no nerve breaking suspense, justΒ  a detailed narration of an attorneys globe trotting with few blondes. Nothing more. I struggled to finish it off.

There is no story as such to talk about in this book. Just a dangerous embarking of a retired military general to make money, with the help of an attorney who hardly like this job. All the so called β€˜turns and twists’ in this story was so predicable even by a novice. To spice things up, the author has sprinkled four blondes and humours (!?!) all over the novel. I really wanted to count the word β€˜goddam’, which kept on repeating at least four to five times per page. What ever characterization the author intended to portray using this β€˜goddam’ word, It has gone completely haywire.

I expected more from such a fabulous author, not just a plain narration of planning and strategies. The final verdict is the book was dragging with absolutely no solid story line. The only character that surprises the readers, if at all, was β€˜Anne’.Β  Anyway the book was a wrong choice for me.
