Diary Of a Wimpy Kid – Review

Diary Of a Wimpy Kid By Jeff Kinney, Finished reading on 26th November 2009

“Let me get something straight: this is a JOURNAL, not a dairy. This was Mom’s idea, not mine. But if she thinks I’m going to write down my “feelings” in here or whatever, she’s crazy.

The Only reason I agreed to do this at all is because I figure later on when I’m rich and famous, this book is gonna come in handy. But for now I’m stuck in middle school with a bunch of morons.

Today is the first day of school so I figured I might as well write in this book to pass the time. Just don’t expect me to be all “Dear Diary” this and “Dear Diary” that.”

I got this book from the Children’s section of the bookstore. But never mind that one, because no matter what’s your age is, you are going to love this book.  Those who want more of Calvin and Hobbes stuff, It is a scrumptious treat for them. It is the story of a middle school kid. The story is written in a very funny and crisp manner and there are only few hundred pages which can be devoured in one night. Story is told with the aid of small cartoons, which I think is an awesome idea to convey the idea of a 5th grade student. It is in fact a small peep into their world.

The book is a gripping page-turner and off course silly at times but an easy read. But that’s the things that matters to a 9 year old I guess. Loved the book.  I love a good laugh so I am going with a 4 for this. Those who are in search of a soul penetrating stuff, you can give it a miss. It is a simple read, probably a mood-lifting kind of book.

Rating 4/5
