After so many days I took out a Jane Austen book, and I am glad its Persuasion. To summarize the book in a one liner – It’s the most sober and elegant Jane Austen book I have ever read. There is a subtleness and obscureness about the theme and heroine of the story. It’s the last book of the author and may be that explains why it is so.

Anne Elliot, the moment I finished Persuasion, I declared her as my favorite among the Jane Austen Ladies. she is a lot different from the main leading ladies of Jane Austen. Simpleton, Care giver and a well read heroine whose judgments are well based on wisdom – She stands apart. I can not marking her quotes while I was reading.

“I hate to hear you talk about all women as if they were fine ladies instead of rational creatures. None of us want to be in calm waters all our lives.”

For me the she is the ideal Jane Austen character and during the entire read I was in awe of my heroine. My favorite quote from the book is

“You pierce my soul. I am half agony, half hope…I have loved none but you.”

Going with a 4/5 for this one….Oh wait, I think I should stop rating Jane Austen books and give them a blanket rating of 5.
