Review: Sharp Objects

Sharp Objects
Sharp Objects by Gillian Flynn
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

Gone Girl prompted me to pick this one book of Gillian Flynn. But with the first few chapters itself i realized its not my cup of tea. While I loved gone girl because of the different way of narration, this book had nothing to hold me. I absolutely loath gory stuff and I can’t take dark stuff. I had almost decided to quit the book in between. But the mystery hooked me till the end. I confess i skimmed many a pages. May be for one someone who wouldn’t mind a bit of dark and gory stuff, this may turn out to be a best of the lot. Not for me. It does not suit my taste.
I am giving it a 2.

Review: The Long Haul

The Long Haul
The Long Haul by Jeff Kinney
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This one is my all time favorite. Its the 9th book in the series and all of them I have rated five. The other day I was reading this book while waiting for my doc’s appointment. A 11 or 12 year old girl came to me and coyly said that, she has read the book and its very nice. She recommended me to read the other books in the series as well. Bingo, it took me only a minute to connect with this cutest girl, all thanks to Jeff Kinney. Hope he continues this series forever and ever and ever.

Review: The Mahabharata Secret

The Mahabharata Secret
The Mahabharata Secret by Christopher C. Doyle
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Simply awesome. Its been a while since I have read a Dan Brown genre book. I am an avid follower of Indian Mythical stories and this one exactly fits my taste. A good story with a blend of history and technology in equal measure. Vijay and Colin combo is a budding sherlock – watson combination. Would like to read more of this duo. If the author ever plans a sequel, I am up for it.

Occasionally author tends to get a little long on descriptions of historic events. That is the only nitpicking i can do about the book. (Spoilers Ahead) Also in the end, there are a couple of things which I would have liked to be changed. I am a happy ending person. So going with a 4.

Review: Legacy of Blood

Legacy of Blood
Legacy of Blood by Alex Connor
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Yet another thriller which you pick up on the go. Nothing outstanding about the book. There are some elements in the book which are sometimes does not add up to the theme of the book. It has a solid theme, but when it comes to mystery the author messes it up with lot of juggled characters.

I would go for a 3 for the book, just because despite many flows it kept me hooked for a while. Engaging…
